Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following a series of deadly incidents across Lebanon and Gaza. Emergency officials in Lebanon reported that an Israeli air strike in the northern town of Aitou resulted in 21 fatalities. This marks the first time in a year of hostilities that Israel has reportedly targeted the Christian-majority region, with no immediate comment from Israel.

Further south, violent clashes erupted between Hezbollah and Israeli forces near the border. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) simultaneously announced the discovery of an 800-meter-long underground compound in southern Lebanon, allegedly constructed by Hezbollah, containing various military supplies. Concurrently, the IDF reported intercepting most of over 100 rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon into Israel.

In Gaza, the UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) confirmed that 10 people were killed this morning at a food distribution center in the Jabalia refugee camp. This incident comes as Israel continues its operations in Jabalia, stating its objective is to dismantle regrouping Hamas fighters. The United Nations has voiced strong condemnation regarding the significant civilian casualties in northern Gaza.
