Apple has officially commenced the public beta program for its highly anticipated next generation of software updates. Users can now access the first public betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26, allowing them to experience the future of Apple’s operating systems on eligible devices.

The most striking new feature across these updates is a bold new design language dubbed “Liquid Glass.” Inspired by visionOS, this aesthetic emphasizes transparency and a fluid, water droplet-like appearance for UI elements. Early impressions from developer betas noted a significant visual overhaul, with Apple already making refinements to translucency and Control Center appearance in subsequent releases.

In a move to simplify software identification, Apple has also introduced an updated numbering scheme. All new operating systems now consistently end with ’26’, mirroring the car industry’s practice of naming models after the following year, aiming to provide users with clearer indication of the latest software version.
