A tragic incident unfolded in Dhaka on Monday, July 21, 2025, as a Bangladeshi air force training jet crashed near the Milestone School and College in the northern Uttara neighborhood, resulting in at least 20 fatalities and 104 injuries. Among the victims are at least seven children, the youngest being just five years old.
The single-seater, Chinese-made F-7 BGI aircraft experienced a mechanical failure shortly after takeoff. The pilot, Flt. Lt. According to Sami Ud Dowla Chowdhury, director of the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), rescue operations are still underway, and the process of identifying victims was ongoing as of late Monday. Around 1,000 students were present on the school campus when the plane crashed next to its cafeteria. All injured and deceased have been transported to four different hospitals.
