A Bangladesh Air Force training jet tragically crashed into a school campus in Dhaka today, resulting in the deaths of at least 19 people and injuring 164 others. The F-7 jet experienced a mechanical fault shortly after taking off from an air base in the capital around 13:00 local time (07:06 GMT).

The incident occurred at Milestone School and College in the northern suburb of Uttara, with footage revealing a large fire and thick smoke after the aircraft slammed into a two-storey building. The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Md. Taukir Islam, was among those killed, reportedly attempting to navigate the jet away from more densely populated areas following the mechanical failure.

Over 50 individuals, including children and adults, have been rushed to hospitals with severe burns. Emergency teams are currently engaged in extensive rescue operations at the scene, working through charred rubble amidst large crowds of onlookers. An investigation committee has been swiftly formed to ascertain the exact cause of this devastating incident.
