Beloved My 2 Cents Restaurant on Pico Blvd Announces July 31 Closure

Los Angeles is set to lose a culinary landmark as My 2 Cents, the beloved L.A.-style soul food bistro on West Pico Boulevard, announced its permanent closure on July 31. Opened in 2013 by acclaimed Chef Alisa Reynolds, the restaurant quickly became a neighborhood favorite, celebrated for its unique Southern comfort menu infused with Reynolds’ L.A. upbringing, featuring dishes like turkey meatloaf and grit fries.
Chef Reynolds confirmed the difficult decision, citing a desire to transition from a brick-and-mortar establishment to focus on expanding catering services, pop-ups, collaborations, and developing a new product line. “I can do more as chef Alisa than I can do at My 2 Cents,” Reynolds stated, expressing her vision to inspire through food in new ways.
The closure comes amidst various challenges, including significant financial losses post-COVID pandemic, impacts from Hollywood industry strikes, recent wildfires, and ongoing pressures from developers on the restaurant’s landlord. Despite these hurdles, Reynolds emphasizes the restaurant’s legacy as “more than a restaurant; it was like a little movement of love.”
Diners still have opportunities to experience My 2 Cents before its doors close. The restaurant will host weekly wine tastings with Southern-inspired tapas every Wednesday, and its popular ’90s brunch will continue on Sundays with a live DJ. A final community celebration is planned for August 1 in the shopping plaza’s parking lot, featuring food, drinks, and music. Fans can follow Chef Reynolds on Instagram for updates on her future culinary ventures.
