A horrific mass shooting in Chicago‘s River North neighborhood on Wednesday night claimed the lives of four individuals and left 14 others wounded, according to police. The victims, all in their 20s and 30s, were targeted as they exited an album release party at Artis Restaurant and Lounge.

Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling described the attack as “deplorable and cowardly,” stating that a vehicle pulled up and opened fire on the crowd around 11 p.m. “They didn’t care who was struck, and in a matter of seconds, they were able to shoot 18 people,” Snelling said at a news conference.

The two men killed were identified as Leon Andrew Henry, 25, and Devonte Terrell Williamson, 23. Two women also in their 20s were among the fatalities. Of the 14 wounded, 11 are women, with several hospitalized in critical condition.

Pastor Donovan Price, who aids violence victims, described the scene as “absolute chaos” upon his arrival, with screams, blood, and a massive police presence. “Just horrific. More than I’ve ever seen,” he stated, warning that such an event “can happen anywhere.”

Authorities confirmed that the vehicle fled immediately after the shooting, and no arrests have been made. Investigators recovered shell casings from two different calibers at the crime scene. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson also acknowledged a second mass shooting on the city’s far South Side Wednesday night, which hospitalized four people, vowing accountability for the violence.
