Capcom has offered a fresh look into the highly anticipated ‘Resident Evil: Requiem,’ revealing a return to the series’ foundational roots and a targeted release date of February 27, 2026. According to producer Masato Kumazawa in a recent PlayStation Blog interview, ‘Requiem’ serves as a 30th-anniversary celebration, deliberately pivoting back to the overarching narrative threads of Raccoon City and the shadowy Umbrella Corporation. Unlike the broader world exploration seen in Ethan Winters’ recent adventures, this game is poised to delve deep into the lore established in classics like Resident Evil 2 and 3.

The game introduces Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Resident Evil: Outbreak protagonist and Raccoon City survivor Alyssa, as the new lead. Kumazawa emphasized the desire for a protagonist with a deeply personal connection to the city’s tragic past. The subtitle ‘Requiem’ itself is teased to hold multiple layers of meaning, reflecting not only Grace’s personal journey but also a broader homage to all affected by the Raccoon City incident.
