Insta360, a prominent player in the action camera market, has officially launched its first wireless microphone, the Insta360 Mic Air. This new device positions the company as a direct competitor to established brands like DJI, Shure, and Rode in the portable audio segment.

Remarkably compact, the Mic Air is comparable in size to an Apple AirTag, weighing a mere 7.9 grams. This makes it one of the lightest wireless microphones currently available, surpassing the DJI Mic Mini (10g), Rode Wireless GO II (30g), and even Shure’s MoveMic (8.2g).

Designed for content creators on the go, the Mic Air boasts impressive battery life, offering up to 10 hours of use on a single charge. It can be easily attached to clothing via a clip, magnetic backing, or pendant strap. Key features include integrated button controls for noise canceling, video recording activation, and quick muting.

Connectivity options include an optional USB-C receiver for smartphones and other devices, providing a range of up to 300 meters in optimal conditions. The Mic Air also offers direct Bluetooth connectivity to Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and Insta360 X5 8K 360-degree cameras, with broader compatibility planned for future models.

The Insta360 Mic Air is now available for purchase through the company’s online store and major retailers like Amazon. It is priced at $49.99 for the microphone unit alone, or $69.99 as part of a bundle that includes the essential USB-C receiver.
