North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in Pyongyang, solidifying military cooperation between the two nations.

KCNA reports confirmed discussions regarding the deployment of 5,000 North Korean construction workers and 1,000 sappers to the Kursk region of Russia for post-conflict reconstruction. This follows earlier reports of significant North Korean artillery shell and troop deployments to support Russia’s operations in Ukraine, a violation of UN sanctions, according to South Korea.

The meeting further suggests a potential exchange of military technology and economic aid between North Korea and Russia. South Korea and Japan have pledged increased cooperation in response to this deepening military-industrial partnership.

This collaboration represents a significant escalation in geopolitical tensions and underscores the increasing integration of North Korea into Russia’s military supply chain.
