FBI Director Kash Patel today confirmed that DNA evidence definitively links 22-year-old Tyler Robinson to the murder scene of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. DNA recovered from a towel wrapped around the firearm and a screwdriver at the crime scene both positively match Robinson, who was arrested last Thursday following a 33-hour manhunt.

Speaking on Fox News, Patel revealed that Robinson had also expressed a desire to “take out” Kirk in text messages and had written a detailed note outlining his plans, which investigators recovered forensic evidence of despite its destruction. The note reportedly stated, “I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it.”

Kirk, CEO and cofounder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of former President Donald Trump, was fatally shot last Wednesday during a speaking event at a university in Utah. His assassination has ignited a firestorm of political condemnation, highlighting deep divisions and sparking fears of escalating political violence in the United States.

In the wake of the murder, Trump vowed federal action against left-wing networks, suggesting racketeering charges and designating Antifa as domestic terrorists. Vice President JD Vance also urged a grassroots campaign to identify and report individuals celebrating Kirk’s death on social media, leading to several firings, including Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah.

While Robinson’s specific motive remains under investigation, Patel affirmed reports that the suspect espoused left-wing views, a claim corroborated by his family to investigators.
