AMD has significantly expanded the reach of its cutting-edge FSR 4 AI upscaling and frame-generation technology, making it accessible to a vast library of titles. With the release of its newest 25.9.1 driver, gamers can now enable FSR 4 across ‘most games that support FSR 3.1 with DirectX 12,’ as confirmed in the latest patch notes. This development fulfills a major promise from AMD, which initially launched FSR 4 alongside its RX 9000-series graphics cards earlier this year in March.

A direct competitor to Nvidia’s DLSS 4, FSR 4 is hailed by AMD as a ‘significant leap forward‘ compared to its predecessor, FSR 3. The technology leverages advanced machine learning algorithms to intelligently predict and compensate for lost pixels during lower-resolution rendering. This ensures gamers experience both high performance and crisp, high-definition visuals that rival native resolutions.

While the new driver officially brings FSR 4 support to over 85 titles, a groundbreaking feature allows users to force FSR 4 in FSR 3.1 games. By simply flipping a toggle within the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition app, the driver can override the game’s existing FSR 3.1 implementation with the newest FSR 4 version. This empowers a broader range of gamers to immediately benefit from AMD’s latest upscaling innovations, enhancing visual fidelity and frame rates in their favorite games, including recent additions like Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, and F1 25.
