Ghislaine Maxwell Denies Prince Andrew Accusations in Newly Released DOJ Interview Transcripts

In a newly released transcript and audio from a U.S. Department of Justice interview, convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell vehemently denied claims by Virginia Roberts Giuffre regarding a sexual encounter with Prince Andrew.
The interview, conducted last month in Tallahassee, Florida, saw Maxwell — former companion and co-conspirator of Jeffrey Epstein — dismiss the infamous photo depicting her, Prince Andrew, and a then-teenaged Giuffre as fake. She also asserted that the alleged encounter at her London home could not have occurred, stating, “I believe that this whole thing was manufactured.”
Maxwell’s comments came during a highly unusual two-day session with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, which the DOJ had billed as an opportunity to gather information on others who committed crimes against victims. However, Maxwell maintained she witnessed no improper or illegal activity by prominent individuals linked to Epstein.
Giuffre, who tragically died by apparent suicide in April, had alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell to high-profile associates, including Prince Andrew on three occasions. Her family, in a statement released last month, heavily criticized the government’s decision to meet with Maxwell, calling her “a predator who thought only of herself.”
Maxwell specifically refuted Giuffre’s account of an encounter at her London home in March 2001, citing a family celebration for her mother’s 80th birthday that weekend. She also challenged the physical possibility of such an event in her “tiny” London bathroom, which Giuffre had described as a location for part of the encounter.
Despite Maxwell’s denials, flight logs from Epstein’s private plane for early March 2001 list “JE,” “GM,” and “Virginia Roberts” as passengers on a trip that included London. Maxwell also contradicted Prince Andrew’s previous assertion that she introduced him to Epstein, claiming the two men met independently.
Prince Andrew settled a sexual assault and battery lawsuit filed by Giuffre in 2021 for an undisclosed sum, while denying the allegations. Maxwell is currently pursuing a petition before the U.S. Supreme Court to review her conviction, which the Department of Justice opposes.
