A Washington D.C. man has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a federal law enforcement official. The incident occurred amidst heightened federal law enforcement presence in the nation’s capital, a measure ordered by the White House.

Sean Charles Dunn, 37, reportedly approached a group of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents late Sunday. According to a police affidavit, Dunn pointed a finger at an agent, swore at him, and called him a “fascist,” shouting, “Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city!” An observer’s video reportedly captured Dunn then throwing a sub-style sandwich at the agent’s chest. Dunn attempted to flee but was apprehended and charged with federal assault.

The incident coincides with a controversial White House directive to increase federal officer and National Guard presence in the city. This surge is justified by claims of rising crime, though city leaders dispute these assertions, citing statistics that indicate violent crime is at a 30-year low.
