Less than a week after the White House announced a new $100,000 H-1B fee policy, medtech giant Intuitive, known for its da Vinci surgical robots, has confirmed it is temporarily pausing offers to candidates requiring H-1B visa sponsorship. This move by the S&P 500 company, with over 13,000 global employees and a market cap exceeding $150 billion, signals an immediate impact of the new policy on tech hiring across the industry.

Intuitive, based in Sunnyvale, California, disclosed the policy change across more than 100 job listings on its careers page. The company cited “uncertainty caused by the recent US executive proclamation” as the reason for the temporary halt in H-1B offers, though no timeline for resumption was provided. This affects a wide range of US-based positions, from software engineering to communications.

The executive order, signed by President Donald Trump on September 19, imposed the substantial fee on new H-1B applications, reportedly blindsiding companies and triggering a scramble among HR and immigration teams. While the White House has since clarified that current H-1B visa holders are not affected, the policy applies to new applicants from outside the country. Intuitive has sponsored over 1,500 H-1B petitions since 2009, according to official USCIS data.
