Israel Orders Full Gaza City Evacuation Amid Intensifying Ground Offensive

The Israeli military has issued a full evacuation order for all residents of Gaza City today, September 9, 2025, urging them to move south to the designated humanitarian zone of Al-Mawasi. An IDF spokesperson emphasized the extreme danger of remaining in the city as ground operations intensify.
This directive follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government approving a plan to seize Gaza City, the largest urban center in the besieged enclave, where Israeli forces began ground operations approximately a week ago. The military’s objective is to eliminate Hamas, the militant organization it has been fighting since October 2023.
Leaflets have been dropped across Gaza City, reinforcing the evacuation message. However, a significant number of residents remain, citing various reasons including financial constraints for transportation, concerns about safety, and reports of severe shortages of space in the designated humanitarian areas.
The evacuation order comes just one day after a direct warning from Prime Minister Netanyahu to Gaza City residents, urging them to leave immediately.
