An international activist group preparing to deliver aid to Gaza is reporting that one of its vessels, the ‘Family Boat,’ was struck by what it believes was a drone while docked in Tunisia. The incident, which occurred overnight, has prompted a swift denial from Tunisian authorities, who are investigating a fire aboard the boat but dismiss claims of a drone involvement.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, whose mission is to transport humanitarian aid to Gaza, stated that the Portuguese-flagged ‘Family Boat’ was hit, though no injuries were reported among those aboard. Footage circulating on the group’s social media reportedly shows a flash of light impacting the vessel, followed by a fire.

The flotilla, which includes high-profile figures such as Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau among its most famous members on the ‘Family Boat,’ is scheduled to depart Tunisia on Wednesday. Despite the incident, the group affirms it will not derail their mission to deliver essential supplies to Gaza, challenging Israel’s maritime blockade.

The Tunisian Interior Ministry has refuted reports of a drone attack, confirming that specialized security units are actively investigating the cause of a fire in a life jacket on the boat. Israeli military and government officials have yet to comment on the allegations. The Global Sumud Flotilla is expected to hold a news conference in Tunis later today to provide further details on the alleged attack and their ongoing mission.
