Search Continues for Third Victim After Tragic Deschutes River Floating Accident Near Bend
Authorities are continuing their search today for a third individual missing after a tragic floating accident on the Deschutes River near Bend, which claimed the lives of two women over the weekend. Law enforcement officials are urging the public to avoid the Dillon Falls area southwest of Bend to ensure search efforts are not impeded.
The incident occurred Saturday when a group of six individuals, whose inner tubes were tied together, unexpectedly approached the perilous Dillon Falls. While three members of the group managed to escape to safety, three others were swept over the 15-foot drop.
The bodies of 40-year-old Amanda Lloyd of Rockwall, Texas, and 33-year-old Lindsay Bashan of Parkland, Florida, have been recovered. The identity of the third missing person has not yet been released. Authorities have also withheld the names of the three survivors.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is leading the extensive search, now aided by the Portland Police Bureau’s fixed-wing plane, equipped with specialized cameras, and a dedicated K-9 team.
