Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7 is poised to redefine foldable smartphone durability, with its display officially rated to withstand an unprecedented 500,000 folds. This remarkable achievement, certified by Bureau Veritas after rigorous testing, more than doubles the lifespan rating of previous Galaxy Z Fold models.

According to Samsung, the new foldable OLED panel remained fully functional after being folded half a million times over 13 days. This means that for a user who folds their device approximately 100 times daily, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s display could realistically last for over a decade, effectively eliminating long-standing concerns about foldable screen longevity. Samsung boldly stated that “durability is no longer a limiting factor in the lifespan of foldable smartphones.”

The engineering behind this breakthrough is extensive. Samsung drew inspiration from bulletproof glass, increasing the thickness of the display’s outermost layer by 50 percent and applying a high-elastic adhesive to every panel layer for superior shock absorption. The new design also ensures more even shock distribution across the surface, reinforced by a titanium plate for enhanced structural integrity. Furthermore, advancements in materials and panel redesign have allowed the company to achieve a thinner profile, making the device feel more akin to a traditional smartphone.

This 500,000-fold rating stands in stark contrast to earlier Galaxy Z Fold iterations, which were typically rated for 200,000 folds. The significant leap forward suggests that the Z Fold 7 could indeed offer users unparalleled peace of mind regarding their device’s long-term resilience.
