A recent CNN poll reveals widespread public opposition to the Trump administration’s aggressive ramp-up of deportation programs. The survey, conducted from July 10-13, found that 55% of Americans believe the president has gone too far in carrying out deportations, a significant 10-point increase since February.

The poll highlights strong disapproval across several key immigration initiatives. A majority of 57% oppose plans for new detention facilities capable of holding up to 100,000 undocumented immigrants, while 53% object to increasing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) budget by billions. Furthermore, nearly 6 in 10 Americans oppose efforts to end birthright citizenship, a policy currently under judicial review.

Opposition is particularly pronounced when it comes to deporting immigrants without criminal records, with 59% of Americans against arresting and detaining long-term undocumented residents. The survey also notes growing support for protests against the administration’s immigration policies, with 55% deeming them justified. The findings underscore a deepening public concern over the scope and methods of federal immigration enforcement.
