Dan Rivera, a lead paranormal investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), has died suddenly at age 54 while on a national tour featuring the allegedly haunted Annabelle doll. Rivera, an army veteran, passed away on Sunday during a stop in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of the ‘Devils on the Run Tour’ where he and other NESPR members were presenting the infamous Raggedy Ann doll across multiple states.

The Annabelle doll gained notoriety from ‘The Conjuring’ horror movie franchise and was originally acquired by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who kept it in their occult museum. Rivera, mentored by Lorraine Warren, had reportedly advised tour participants on protective measures against the doll’s supposed hauntings just prior to his death.

The Adams County Coroner, Francis Dutrow, confirmed on Tuesday that Rivera’s cause of death remains undetermined, pending an autopsy. Emergency services had responded to a call for CPR in progress at a Gettysburg hotel on Sunday evening. The coroner’s office stated that Rivera’s death was not suspicious and he was found alone in his room.

NESPR released a statement mourning Rivera, praising his integrity and passion for the paranormal. The organization plans to continue with its scheduled events, believing Rivera would have wanted the work to proceed, honoring the legacy of Ed and Lorraine Warren.
