Anker Issues Urgent Expanded Recall for Five Power Bank Models Over Fire Risk

Anker has announced a second, expanded product recall this month, urging customers to immediately cease using five additional power bank models due to significant risks of overheating, melting, smoke, or fire. This latest recall follows an earlier one this month concerning the PowerCore 10000 (model A1263).
The company states that while the likelihood of malfunction is minimal, it is initiating a voluntary global recall out of an abundance of caution. The concerns stem from a potential issue identified with lithium-ion batteries supplied by one of its vendors, mirroring the issues from the previous recall.
The newly affected products, identifiable by their model numbers on the device’s back or side, include:
- Anker Power Bank (models A1257 and A1647)
- Anker MagGo Power Bank (model A1652)
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (models A1681 and A1689)
US customers with affected devices can claim a free replacement power bank or a gift card for use on Anker’s website by submitting a recall claim form with a verified product serial number or proof of purchase.
Anker emphasizes that all recalled power banks must be safely disposed of at a facility equipped to handle lithium-ion batteries. Due to fire hazards, these devices should not be discarded in general trash, recycling bins, or standard used battery collection points.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission previously reported 19 incidents of fires and explosions linked to the earlier A1263 recall. While specific incident reports for these new models are not yet clear, Anker’s swift global action underscores the seriousness of the safety concerns.
