Want to live longer? A new study from Tufts University suggests your morning cup of joe might hold the secret. Researchers analyzed data from over 46,000 adults over nearly two decades, uncovering a surprising link between black coffee consumption and reduced mortality risk.

The findings, published in The Journal of Nutrition, reveal that drinking one to two cups of black coffee daily could slash your risk of death by a significant 14%. That’s right – a simple daily ritual might be boosting your lifespan.

But here’s the crucial detail: the benefits appear linked to plain black coffee. Adding milk, sugar, or saturated fats might completely negate these positive effects, according to the research. The study, based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1999-2018), carefully examined coffee consumption habits and mortality rates, including deaths from cancer and cardiovascular disease.

While the study highlights the potential longevity benefits, it’s important to note that exceeding three cups a day doesn’t offer additional protection. So, savor those one to two cups of black coffee, and consider the impact of your coffee additions on your overall health.
