Logitech is set to deactivate all Pop smart home switches and their connected hubs on October 15, 2025, rendering the devices completely inoperable. This move, announced to customers via email on September 29, means that hundreds of dollars worth of smart home accessories will become e-waste in less than a week.

Launched in August 2016, Pop switches offered users quick access to various smart home actions, integrating with third-party gadgets like Philips Hue lights, Sonos speakers, and Lutron blinds. Each button could store three actions and was managed through a dedicated app. The Starter Pack originally retailed for $100, with add-on switches priced at $40 each.

As a form of compensation, Logitech has offered affected customers a 15 percent off coupon for select Logitech products, including Ultimate Ears speakers. However, the coupon is only valid in the US until March 31, 2026, and excludes several product lines, including newly released items, Pro/RS racing wheels, videoconferencing products, and the Logitech for Business line.

Logitech representatives stated that the decision to end support comes after maintaining the Pop ecosystem for close to a decade, citing evolving technology. The company has not addressed questions regarding the short notice period or the environmental impact of the devices becoming e-waste.
