Google has significantly enhanced its AI-powered virtual try-on feature, announcing its expansion to Australia, Canada, and Japan. The tech giant also revealed that users can now virtually try on shoes, adding a new dimension to its interactive shopping experience.

This innovative feature allows shoppers to upload a full-length photo of themselves and virtually visualize how clothes, and now shoes, would appear on their own body. To use the tool for shoes, users simply tap a product listing on Google, select “Try It On,” upload their photo, and within seconds, see the shoes digitally rendered on their image. Users then have the option to save or share these personalized visuals.

The latest rollout builds on Google’s prior introduction of AI-driven virtual try-on for clothing, which allowed users to see items on a diverse range of models before evolving to personal body visualization. Google continues to invest heavily in this space, including the experimental Doppl app launched in June, which leverages similar generative AI technology for deeper style curation and AI-generated video previews.

While Google leads with these advancements, it’s not alone in the market, with companies like Amazon and Walmart also exploring virtual try-on technologies.
