Grand Blanc Township was rocked by a horrific incident late Sunday morning when ten individuals were shot, two fatally, at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Authorities report that a Genesee County man, identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford of Burton, allegedly rammed his truck through the church’s entrance and opened fire.

Sanford is also accused of setting fire to the church located at 4285 McCandlish Road. Responding law enforcement officers confronted the suspect at the scene, where he was subsequently killed. Grand Blanc Township is situated approximately 50 miles north of Detroit.
