England’s Red Roses have once again etched their names into history, securing their third Women’s Rugby World Cup title with a commanding victory over Canada at Twickenham. The triumph comes after a dominant performance that saw them defeat their Canadian rivals in front of a record-breaking women’s rugby crowd of 81,885.

Laying to rest the ghosts of their previous two final defeats to New Zealand, the Red Roses showcased an assured display, built on formidable power up front and ferocious defence. Despite conceding an early score to Canada’s flying winger Asia Hogan-Rochester, England quickly responded with a sensational solo try from Ellie Kildunne, followed by scores from Amy Cokayne and Alex Matthews, taking control of the final.

The second half continued England’s relentless pressure, with Abbie Ward adding another try. Though Hogan-Rochester bagged her second for Canada, Alex Matthews’ second try from close range sealed the victory for John Mitchell’s side. This historic win extends England’s remarkable unbeaten run to 33 games, their last loss being the previous World Cup final three years prior.

This victory marks England’s first Women’s Rugby World Cup title since 2014, when they also defeated Canada, capping a memorable year for women’s sport in England, following the Lionesses’ successful defence of their European title at Euro 2025 in July.
