Heroic Patrons Subdue Gunman at New Hampshire Wedding, Averting Greater Tragedy

Quick-thinking patrons at a New Hampshire country club are being hailed as heroes after their selfless actions helped stop a gunman who opened fire during a wedding, preventing a potentially far worse tragedy, authorities confirmed.
The incident, which occurred Saturday night at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, resulted in the death of 59-year-old Robert DeCesare Jr. and left two others wounded. Police quickly apprehended the suspect, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau of Nashua, a former employee of the club, shortly after the shooting.
Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke announced Nadeau has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. Witnesses reported that Nadeau made various statements, including “Free Palestine,” during the chaotic scene, though investigators currently believe his motive was to cause chaos rather than being hate-based.
Crucial to containing the violence were patrons who reportedly intervened, with some striking Nadeau with a chair to subdue him before he fled. Wedding DJ Michael Homewood credited this act with saving multiple lives. One of the surviving gunshot victims, a club employee, is in critical but stable condition, while the status of the other victim remains unknown. Several others sustained non-gunshot injuries.
Nadeau is expected to be arraigned in the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua today, Monday. Authorities anticipate additional charges will be filed. The investigation into the full motive and circumstances is ongoing.
