Sacramento TV Station Shooting: Suspect to Appear in Court Tomorrow

Anibal Hernandezsantana, 64, is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, following his arrest in connection with a drive-by shooting at the ABC10 TV station in Sacramento. Hernandezsantana was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail on Saturday and later released after posting $200,000 bail.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 19, around 1:30 p.m. local time, when multiple shots were fired into a window of the ABC10 lobby on Broadway. Police confirmed the building was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported. Hernandezsantana faces felony charges including shooting into an occupied building, assault with a deadly weapon, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
The shooting took place just one day after protests were held outside the station regarding the indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show by ABC. Authorities have stated that the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and it is currently unclear if there is any connection to the protest or the show’s suspension.
TEGNA, the owner of ABC10, expressed gratitude that their employees were unharmed and confirmed increased security measures at the station. The company is cooperating fully with the police investigation. The National Association of Black Journalists Sacramento chapter and other organizations have strongly condemned the act, emphasizing that violence against media members is an attack on the entire community.
