Meta’s highly anticipated Connect conference is set to kick off this week, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg slated to deliver a live keynote on Wednesday evening. The event is expected to unveil a slew of new hardware and software advancements, with a strong focus on smart glasses and artificial intelligence.

Among the most anticipated announcements are new smart glasses, codenamed ‘Hypernova,’ featuring a small display in the right lens. These glasses are reportedly controlled by a wristband utilizing surface electromyography (sEMG) technology, which interprets electrical signals from hand movements. Expected to cost around $800, these devices represent Meta’s push into advanced wearable tech.

Beyond the high-tech display models, Meta is also rumored to introduce third-generation Ray-Ban Metas, building on the success of its popular smart glasses line. New Oakley ‘Sphaera’ models, potentially featuring enhanced camera capabilities, are also on the horizon.

AI will be a central theme, with Meta expected to highlight new AI features across its applications and existing smart glasses hardware. While new Quest VR headsets from Meta are not anticipated this year, there’s speculation about potential VR headset announcements from licensing partners like Asus, which could debut a new Horizon OS-powered device.

Zuckerberg is also expected to touch on the metaverse, providing updates on Meta’s long-term vision for immersive digital experiences.
