A manhunt is actively underway following the fatal shooting of conservative youth activist Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who died Wednesday after an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The shocking incident has prompted widespread reactions and a significant move by Comedy Central.

In the immediate aftermath of Kirk’s death, Comedy Central pulled a recent “South Park” episode from its scheduled rotation. The episode, which originally aired in early August and was set for a rerun Wednesday night, featured one of the show’s main characters, Eric Cartman, in a parody of Kirk, mimicking his mannerisms and confrontational debate style. While removed from the network’s rotation, the episode remains available on demand and via Paramount+.

Kirk, who had amassed a large following on TikTok, had previously reacted positively to the episode, calling it “hilarious” and a “big win” for his brand, even changing his profile picture to Cartman’s depiction of him. However, following his death, many of Kirk’s conservative supporters have criticized “South Park” creators for the portrayal.

Both Republican and Democratic leaders have condemned Kirk’s killing. Former President Donald Trump described the assassination as “heinous” in a social media message Wednesday, praising Kirk as a “patriot” and a “martyr for truth and freedom.”
