Prince Harry held a private meeting with his father, King Charles, at Clarence House in London yesterday afternoon, marking their first face-to-face encounter since February 2024. The Duke of Sussex, currently in the UK for charity engagements, spent approximately 50 minutes with the monarch.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the private tea, which occurred after King Charles traveled to London from Balmoral. When questioned by reporters after the meeting, Prince Harry briefly commented, “yes, he’s great.” This interaction is widely viewed as a potential initial step towards mending the strained relationship between father and son.

Prince Harry has been vocal about his desire for reconciliation, expressing these sentiments in a BBC interview in May. Their last meeting was shortly after the King’s cancer diagnosis in 2024, when Prince Harry made a brief trip to the UK. While he has visited the UK for other reasons, including court cases, he had not seen his father until yesterday’s private engagement. Prince Harry is scheduled to depart the UK today, Thursday, to return to the US to join Meghan and their children. The Palace has stated it will not provide further comment on the private meeting.
