Medical professionals among festival-goers quickly provided aid before the mother and the 3-pound, 9-ounce infant were airlifted to a Reno hospital.

Beyond the serious investigation and the surprise birth, attendees navigated a range of extreme weather. Following the initial dust storms, temperatures soared near 100 degrees Fahrenheit, accompanied by high humidity. Days of thunderstorms then left the ‘playa’ soggy, though not as severe as the mud-trapping downpours of 2023. These unpredictable conditions, which included four minor injuries from dust storms, prompted officials to temporarily close the gates to Black Rock City.
