Samsung has begun rolling out the inaugural software update for its newly launched Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatches. This initial update, typically released shortly after device availability, focuses on crucial bug fixes and overall stability improvements.

Owners of the Galaxy Watch 8 series will find the update under firmware version ending with AYG4, weighing approximately 164MB. The premium Galaxy Watch Ultra is also receiving its first patch, identified by firmware version BYG4 and a download size of around 158MB.

Currently, the rollout is limited to South Korea, but Samsung is expected to expand availability to other countries and regions within the coming days. It’s worth noting that despite the current date, these smartwatches are still running on the May 2025 security patch, with the August 2025 patch yet to be included.

Users can check for the new update directly from their smartwatch by navigating to the Galaxy Wearable app on their paired phone, then going to Watch settings » Watch software update, and selecting Download and install.
