Genshin Impact to End PS4 Support by April 2026, Citing Hardware Limitations

HoYoverse, the developer behind the globally popular open-world adventure RPG Genshin Impact, has officially announced the discontinuation of support for the game on PlayStation 4. This decision, attributed to “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size,” will progressively roll out over the next few months.
The phased withdrawal of PS4 support will commence on September 10, 2025, when the PS4 version of Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Store. Subsequently, on February 25, 2026, all in-game purchases will cease to be available from both the PlayStation Store and the game’s internal shop. The complete end of service for Genshin Impact on PS4 is scheduled for April 8, 2026.
For players with unredeemed purchases, HoYoverse confirmed that items bought from the PlayStation Store but not yet claimed in-game can still be obtained by logging into Genshin Impact on PS4 before the April 8, 2026, service end date. Post-discontinuation, these items will only be claimable by accessing Genshin Impact on a PlayStation 5 console.
Players currently on PlayStation 5 and other supported platforms will not be impacted by these changes, with HoYoverse assuring that the game will “continue to operate normally” on those systems. The developer strongly encourages existing PS4 players to migrate to a PlayStation 5 or an alternative supported platform, guaranteeing that their “game progress will not be affected” during the transition.
