iOS 26: Apple’s Liquid Glass Design Evolves Ahead of Fall Release

Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 introduces the groundbreaking Liquid Glass design, marking the most significant visual overhaul since iOS 7. This highly anticipated update, also extending to iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, transforms the user experience with dynamic translucency and depth across the interface.

The core of Liquid Glass is its translucent, real-glass-like behavior, allowing background colors and light to subtly filter through interface elements. App icons now feature a layered, 3D appearance, while the Lock Screen boasts translucent controls and a clock that seamlessly integrates with wallpapers. Apple is actively refining the Liquid Glass aesthetic based on beta feedback. Early developer betas saw heavy translucency, leading to readability concerns in areas like Control Center. Subsequent updates, including a significant revision in the June 23 beta 2, increased opacity and improved clarity.
