Officials are investigating a horrific shooting incident that unfolded Monday evening in a Midtown Manhattan office building, leaving four people dead, including an off-duty New York Police Department officer. The alleged gunman, identified as Shane Devon Tamura, was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after the rampage.

The deadly attack occurred just before 6:30 p.m. at 345 Park Avenue, a building housing major companies like Blackstone and the NFL. Sources confirmed that Tamura, 27, reportedly traveled cross-country from Las Vegas, was wearing body armor, and carried an M4 assault rifle when he entered the building and immediately opened fire.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated Monday evening that preliminary information suggests Tamura acted as a “lone shooter.” In addition to the four fatalities, including Officer Didarul Islam who was working security, a fifth victim was critically injured but is now reported to be stable.

The motive behind the cross-country journey and the targeted attack remains under intense investigation by the FBI and local authorities. Witnesses inside the building described a terrifying scene, with colleagues barricading themselves and texting loved ones as shots rang out.
