Moscow and its surrounding regions were hit by a significant drone assault today, with Russian authorities reporting the interception of over 130 Ukrainian drones. The widespread attacks led to temporary restrictions and diversions at all four of Moscow’s international airports, causing considerable air traffic disruption.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed to have downed 26 drones specifically over the Moscow region, as part of broader interceptions across nine Russian regions and occupied Crimea. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed at least 21 drones were destroyed over the capital, with one drone’s wreckage causing a car fire in a residential area, though no serious injuries were reported.

Amidst the escalating drone warfare, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Kyiv’s proposal for new ceasefire talks to be held this week. Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need to accelerate negotiations for a lasting peace, including prisoner exchanges and the return of children. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to intensify Ukraine’s long-range strikes, stating that Russian logistics must suffer significantly to hasten the war’s end.
