Whistleblower Claims Aid Workers Shot Civilians at Gaza Distribution Sites

A former security contractor for the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has come forward with shocking allegations, telling the BBC he witnessed colleagues repeatedly opening fire on unarmed, hungry Palestinians at aid distribution sites. The contractor, who wishes to remain anonymous, described incidents where individuals, including women, children, and elderly people, were shot at with machine guns, even when posing no threat.
According to the whistleblower, on one occasion, a guard fired a machine gun from a watchtower because a group was moving too slowly. He recounted another incident where a colleague allegedly fired 15-20 shots into a crowd, resulting in a Palestinian man dropping motionless, with the contractors reportedly laughing about it. The former employee claims GHF managers dismissed his reports and fostered a “culture of impunity,” where staff were allegedly told, “if you feel threatened, shoot – shoot to kill and ask questions later.” He also detailed other harms, including Palestinians being hit by stun grenade debris, sprayed with mace, or pushed into razor wire.
The GHF, which began operations in late May following an 11-week blockade, has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “categorically false” and asserting that no civilians ever came under fire at their sites. They claim the accuser is a “disgruntled former contractor” terminated for misconduct, a charge he refutes with payslips showing continued payment. The GHF also suggested gunfire in shared footage originated from Israeli forces, not their personnel. The UN and local doctors report that over 400 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces attempting to retrieve aid from GHF sites since operations began.
