A new report from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicates that an updated version of Apple’s Vision Pro headset, dubbed the ‘Vision Pro 1.5’, could begin production as early as Q3 2025. This immediate refresh is expected to feature an upgrade to Apple’s M5 system-on-a-chip, providing a significant performance boost, while retaining the original design of the current Vision Pro.

Despite the initial Vision Pro’s high price and niche market adoption, Kuo’s roadmap reinforces Apple’s continued commitment to head-mounted devices as a key future trend in consumer electronics. While no new devices are anticipated in 2026, the analyst projects more substantial launches in 2027 and 2028.

Looking further ahead, a redesigned Vision Pro 2 is not expected until at least mid-2028. This future iteration is rumored to be significantly lighter, come with a more accessible price point, and also incorporate the powerful M5 chip, indicating a long-term strategy for Apple in the mixed reality space.
