Charlie Kirk Shooting Suspect Tyler Robinson Due in Court Today Amid Discord Confession Claims

Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, is expected to appear in court today, Tuesday, September 16. His court appearance follows his arrest last week and the emergence of alleged confessions made on the messaging platform Discord.
Sources indicate Robinson messaged friends in a chat hours before his arrest, stating, “It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.” He is currently being held without bail at Utah County Jail and faces charges including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice, potentially carrying the death penalty.
The alleged Discord messages are a key development as investigators continue to probe Robinson’s motive. FBI Director Kash Patel previously revealed a text message found on Robinson’s phone where he “specifically stated that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and he was going to do that.” Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated that Robinson, who he described as “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” confessed to his father before being persuaded to hand himself in.
While Robinson is reportedly not cooperating with authorities, his roommate is. Investigators are examining his social media accounts and any signs that others may have known about or encouraged the shooting.
