Victims Identified in Deadly Pembroke I-90 Tour Bus Crash; Investigation Continues

Authorities have officially released the names of the five individuals who tragically lost their lives in the recent tour bus rollover on Interstate 90 in Pembroke, New York. The devastating crash, which occurred while the bus was traveling eastbound from Niagara Falls to New York City, remains under active investigation.
The New York State Police reported that the 2005 Van Wool Bus and Coach, operated by M&Y Tour Inc from Staten Island, veered off the roadway into the median before an abrupt correction caused it to overturn and roll off the south embankment of I-90. The incident resulted in multiple passengers being ejected and trapped, with five fatalities confirmed at the scene. A total of 54 occupants were on board.
The deceased have been identified as Shankar Kumar Jha, 65, of Madhu Bani, India; Pinki Changrani, 60, of East Brunswick, N.J.; Xie Hongzhuo, 22, a Columbia University student from Beijing, China; Zhang Xiaolan, 55, of Jersey City, N.J.; and Jian Mingli, 56, also of Jersey City, N.J.
While the exact cause of the collision is still being determined, investigators have ruled out operator impairment and mechanical failure as contributing factors. The New York State Police continue their thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
