WASHINGTON/TOKYO – The United States and Japan have successfully concluded a major trade agreement, significantly reducing threatened auto and “reciprocal” tariffs from 25% to 15%. This landmark deal, finalized today, culminates months of intense negotiations and comes just ahead of an August 1 deadline.

U.S. President Donald Trump, writing on Truth Social, lauded the pact as “a massive Deal with Japan, perhaps the largest Deal ever made.” Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba also recognized the agreement as a “significant achievement.” The accord is expected to reshape trade dynamics and foster economic stability between the two powerful nations.
