Trump Orders Epstein File Release, Calls Critics ‘Troublemakers’

President Donald Trump on Saturday dismissed critics demanding full transparency on the Jeffrey Epstein case as “troublemakers,” even as his administration moved to release grand jury testimony related to the late financier.
Speaking on social media, Trump reiterated his directive to the Justice Department (DOJ) to release all grand jury testimony concerning Epstein, pending court approval. However, he simultaneously lashed out at those pushing for more information, claiming “nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request.”
This development follows the DOJ’s filing on Friday, July 18, seeking court approval to unseal grand jury transcripts from both the Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell cases. The filing, signed by Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, cites “extensive public interest” but assures that victim-related information and other personal identifying details will be redacted.
Public demand for greater insight into the Epstein case has intensified, particularly since a July 6 memo from the Justice Department and FBI indicated no further federal investigation files would be released. Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in August 2019, while his associate Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking in 2022.
Despite the President’s pledge, former federal prosecutor Sarah Krissoff cautioned that the unsealing of grand jury testimony might provide limited new details. Krissoff, who previously worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, explained that grand jury presentations are typically high-level summaries and do not encompass the full scope of evidence, which can span millions of documents. She suggested the move might be aimed more at appeasing public sentiment than revealing significant new information.
