LOS ANGELES – A chaotic scene unfolded early Saturday outside a Los Angeles nightclub, leaving 30 people injured after a vehicle plowed into a crowd. Authorities confirm the driver, who was later found to have been shot, is hospitalized, while police are actively searching for a suspected gunman who fled the scene.

The incident occurred along a busy stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, where a line of people, predominantly women, were waiting to enter the Vermont Hollywood nightclub. The Nissan Versa also struck a taco truck and a valet stand before coming to a halt.

Of the 30 victims, 23 were transported to local hospitals and trauma centers, with at least three reported to be in critical condition. Paramedics discovered the driver’s gunshot wound upon arrival, though police have not disclosed his identity or current status. It remains unclear whether the driver was shot before or after the crash.

Los Angeles Police Department officials are leading a major investigation into the incident. Witnesses reported a fight breaking out near the club prior to the car attack. Maria Medrano, who narrowly escaped with her husband after their hot dog stand was struck, recounted hearing what sounded like gunshots immediately after the crash, followed by widespread panic.

Police have described the suspected shooter as a man wearing a blue jersey and armed with a silver revolver. The community remains on edge as the search for the gunman continues.
