Washington D.C. – President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common and benign vein condition, following recent concerns over swelling in his legs. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the diagnosis on Thursday, July 17, 2025, reassuring the public that the President remains in “excellent overall health.”

The diagnosis comes after photos surfaced of President Trump with noticeably swollen ankles during the Club World Cup soccer final in New Jersey on Sunday, July 13, 2025, sparking widespread speculation about his health. According to Leavitt, the President underwent a comprehensive medical examination, including diagnostic vascular studies, which confirmed the benign condition.

The White House physician’s report indicated no evidence of more serious conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, arterial disease, or issues with heart or kidney function. The report also addressed minor bruising on the President’s hand, attributing it to frequent handshaking and aspirin use. Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition where leg veins struggle to return blood to the heart, common in individuals over 70.
