Recent video evidence challenges Honor’s claim that its new Magic V5 is the “world’s slimmest foldable.” Despite Honor’s official specifications, a side-by-side comparison with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 suggests Samsung’s latest foldable is, in fact, marginally thinner.

The Honor Magic V5, unveiled earlier this month in China, boasts an 8.8mm folded thickness, seemingly besting the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 8.9mm. However, a video shared by prominent leaker @UniverseIce on X (formerly Twitter) visually demonstrates the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s slight edge in thinness. This visual assessment is further supported by micrometer measurements, which also indicate the Samsung device to be slimmer.

While Honor’s claim might stem from different measurement methodologies, as suggested by disclaimers on its website regarding exclusions like camera bumps, the real-world observation and precise measurements cast doubt on the Magic V5’s “slimmest” title. This revelation comes as pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are actively underway.
