Former US President Donald Trump publicly branded Vladimir Putin “absolutely crazy” following Moscow’s most extensive aerial assault on Ukraine. The Kremlin dismissed Trump’s remarks as an “emotional overload” in the wake of the devastating attacks that claimed at least 13 lives and injured dozens across Ukraine.

Trump’s comments, made on Truth Social, came after Russia unleashed 367 drones and missiles, marking its largest combined aerial offensive since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. This was followed by another wave of 355 drones, which the Ukrainian air force described as the largest drone-only attack to date.

In a significant development, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Ukraine’s allies have removed all range restrictions on supplied weaponry. This decision, seemingly a direct response to the recent Russian escalation, empowers Ukraine to strike military positions within Russia, a capability previously limited. While reports suggest Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected in Berlin, the Chancellery has yet to confirm details regarding the potential supply of long-range Taurus missiles, which have a 500km range and have been a point of contention with previous German governments.
