Apple Prepares ‘Affordable’ MacBook with iPhone A18 Pro Chip for 2026 Launch

Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new low-cost MacBook model powered by an A18 Pro iPhone chip, with mass production slated for late 2025 or early 2026, leading to an expected launch in the first half of next year.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this groundbreaking machine is anticipated to feature a 13-inch display and come in multiple vibrant color options, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow. Identified as “Mac17,1” in backend code, this marks Apple’s first venture into equipping a Mac with an iPhone-series chip, distinct from the more powerful M-series chips found in current Apple silicon Macs.
To maintain its affordability, the new MacBook is unlikely to support Thunderbolt ports, offer more than 8GB of unified memory, or connect to more than one external display. It may also reuse the design of an older model, such as the M1 MacBook Air, and could potentially revive the simple “MacBook” moniker, mirroring Apple’s entry-level iPad strategy.
