Famed investor Warren Buffett has announced a significant new donation of $6 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway stock to five charitable foundations. This latest contribution continues his long-standing commitment to philanthropy.

The shares, totaling nearly 12.4 million Class B shares of Berkshire Hathaway, are slated for delivery on Monday. The largest portion, 9.4 million shares, will go to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation is set to receive 943,384 shares, with the Sherwood Foundation, Howard G. Buffett Foundation, and NoVo Foundation each receiving 660,366 shares.

This substantial gift further solidifies Buffett’s philanthropic legacy, bringing his total contributions to these foundations since 2006 to an estimated $60 billion, based on their value at the time of receipt. Buffett has previously stated his intention for approximately 99.5% of his estate to be used for philanthropic purposes.
