A devastating Russian drone attack on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa overnight has claimed the lives of two people, a married couple, and injured at least 17, including three children, Ukrainian authorities confirmed today. Emergency services reported that a drone slammed into a residential tower block, causing significant damage and trapping residents.

Simultaneously, Ukraine launched its own counter-offensive, deploying special drones to attack the Kirovske military airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea. This operation successfully destroyed three multi-purpose and attack helicopters (Mi-8, Mi-26, Mi-28) and a Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile system, according to a Ukrainian security official.

Both sides reported extensive drone activity, with Russia’s Defense Ministry claiming over 40 Ukrainian drones were shot down over western Russia and Crimea. Long-range drone strikes remain a defining feature of the ongoing conflict, now in its fourth year, as both nations continue to develop advanced drone technology.
